Bare-root plants are dug from the nursery while dormant and shipped without soil or pots. They’re lighter to ship, less expensive, and the most sustainable way to plant, and they establish quickly when planted during the cool, wet months. Most of our bare-root natives come as bundles of 3.

Bare-root plants are available in fall and winter only, while the plants are dormant. Plant them as soon as they arrive if you can; if not, see our Shipping, Receiving, & Returns page for how to store them until planting.

LIGHT CONDITION
Select the light condition that corresponds with the approximate number of hours of light your plant will receive each day; from 2 hours for full shade to 6+ hours for full sun.

MOISTURE TOLERANCE
Select the optimal soil moisture level for your plant. "Very Dry" corresponds with a 20% water saturation of the soil and "Wet" corresponds with 80%.
